A
breezy, bright afternoon of sunshine saw Crieff narrowly fail to
claim all the points in their league match against Breadalbane last
Sunday. Stubborn defence from the lower order batsmen from Aberfeldy
frustrated a Crieff bowling attack who had, earlier in the innings,
threatened to skittle out the visitors in double quick time.
Captain Leon De Lange contrived to lose yet another toss, he has
failed to win a single one this season, and Crieff were sent in to
bat. A solid performance from Crieff served to highlight a wonderful
knock of ninety-four from
K
Keldie, caught deep in the covers trying to bludgeon his way to
a richly deserved century; an ironic end to what had been an
uncharacteristically circumspect innings from the volatile Orcadian. .....

Congratulations
to the Squash Slippers, winning the Village 6-a-side competition for
the second consecutive year. They out-played their long-time rivals
the Strathearn Harriers in a close-fought final,
winning eventually by seventeen runs. The semi-final featured
new-comers to this stage of the competition, MCC, and three-time
semi-finalists the Cricket Chicks. A total of ninety-four was
respectable for the yellow-caps but scores well into three figures
are a pre-requiste for progress at this stage of the competition. A
tough lesson that will also have been well learned by the team from
Muthill, MCC who claimed a modest sixty-eight against the Slippers
total of one hundred and nine. The club acknowledge the efforts of
the Gauld family in the administration and organising of the 2007
competition. Well done, Kirk
and Jayne!

Welcome
to the start of the cricket season for our junior club - newly named
'The Braidhaugh Badgers' by competition winner, Isla Bendall. Well
done Isla! Training starts on Thursday, May 3rd from 18:00 - 19:00
and is open to all children of primary and high school age. It is
LOTS of fun and a great way for the lads and lasses to release
energy and learn new skills. The price is a mere £1.00 per session,
plus an annual membership fee of £10, payable after three 'taster'
sessions.
The junior cricket took off with such a swing in 2006 with record
numbers on our books, so it was decided a junior committee, made up
of children and parents might help to keep things organised. The
current crew for 2007 is:
