Six-a-Side 2007 Rules & Notes

Rules

      1. Teams to consist of six members of either sex.
2. A Team does not require to have the same six for every match - could be friends relations etc.
3. No player can appear for more than one club.
4. Only one established cricketer per team.
5. Teams to include one under 18 if possible.
6. Matches to be played on the artificial pitch at the Braidhaugh so no studded footwear.
7. If a batsman scores 25 runs he will retire; then, if he scores 25 runs twice he must bat with the opposite hand thereafter.
8. Batsmen to bat in pairs, each pair facing 3 overs and 2 balls.
9. There will be a 50-yard boundary.
10. Scoring will be as normal but with a deduction of 4 runs at the fall of each wicket for all batsmen.
11. The fielding side will consist of a wicket keeper and 5 fielders who will bowl 2 overs each.
12. No fast bowling will be allowed with the umpire to decide whether to penalise the bowler and award 4 runs to the batting side.
13. Wide bowling will be penalised by 2 runs awarded to the batting side and no extra ball bowled.
14. Batsmen - female and under 14 will be awarded a bonus of 15 runs each.
15. Underarm bowling will be allowed but not along the ground with the bowler informing the umpire of his intentions - to women and under 14s.
16. When juniors are batting, fielders must be at least 15 metres from bat.
17. The umpires decision is final.
18. Teams must include two ladies or two under 14 or one of each.
19. No stumping or LBW
20. Teams that do not turn up will forfeit the game
21. Captain must pay £6 before play or they will forfeit the game.

 

Notes


1. Equipment and balls will be provided.
2. Entry fee to be £1 per head per match for all players ie £6.00 per team.
3. It is intended that matches will be played on Mon, Tues, Wed and Thurs evenings in late May, June and early July with semi-finals and final on Saturday 12th July, with a barbeque to follow.
4. Entering teams are invited to select preferred evenings for their matches - and will be implemented as far as possible.
5. Rain affected matches to be re-arranged by agreement between captains, or decided by bowling at unprotected stumps or lastly by toss of a coin.
